Thanksgiving at our Home

I tend to only really decorate for the holidays at Christmas...
We've added to the Halloween decor in recent years for the kids.
Mostly, their cute Halloween crafts and pictures.  But, this is all I do for Thanksgiving.
This year we added the Thankful Tree.
I cut some branches in my yard, spray painted them a metallic gold
(although the gold doesn't really show in the photo), and hung some fall patterns (found at Target)
with baker's twine (from my shop Modern Palm).
The kids wrote what they are thankful for on the back of the leaves and we will continue
to add to it throughout the month.
Today I'm thankful to live in the beautiful United States of America.
I'm thankful to for the right and blessing to vote!

Yellow Porch Planters

I have had a hard time finding the right planters for my porch.
Just couldn't find the right size, style, and color all in one.
So, I finally went to the Homey-D (Home Depot) and purchased
the size and style I wanted, then conveniently went to the paint section
and selected a fun, bight yellow spray paint and adapted the planters to what I wanted.

I'm happy with the bright, summery statement that they make.
I still need to add flowers, but am waiting for the weather to cooperate.

My Home: Dining Area

Here is my home dining area.
Now it may look a little funny to have the top shelves storing dinnerware and the
bottom shelves filled with bins and files, however, our dining area
also serves as our homework/art area.
In an attempt to be organized, I finally broke down and let the practical side rule,
and have tried to figure out a way to store our homework and art by our table.
The bins are from Ikea and hold the piles of work that the kids bring home.
*The dinnerware is from West Elm
Although these particular plates are no longer available, they always have fantastic dinnerware.
*Recycled Glass Vases West Elm
*Rug is from Ikea
*Porcelain Bananas from Modern Palm
*Iittala Dinnerware from Modern Palm

These happen to be the chairs that I spoke of earlier.
They are hanging on and some are broken and need to be replaced.
Earlier I shared some of my dream chairs.
There is a black bench on the back side.
Usually, I have the bench on the exposed side of the table, but my little 2 year old has
had a problem with it falling lately. He likes to climb all over everything and make things fall,
so I had to move it to the other side for safety purposes.

Striped Walls in Mudroom: Gray + White

It finally happened! I have wanted horizontal stripes for quite some time now,
I just couldn't decide exactley where... hall, bedroom, or mudroom?
It ended up in the mudroom and I'm so excited. Everytime I pass through our mudroom,
I have a smile on my face. The stripes just make me happy.

**The organizer above is from IKEA and holds the socks and shoes for my 4 kids.
They each get a baskets for socks and one for shoes.
For us, it's hard enough to get out the door even with this organizer,
but it just simplifies the process a little more. Anything helps, right? ;)

***The random cabinet door on the wall is our hidden organizer.
When we built our home, I had them do a cut-out to put in a cork board
so we could have our messy papers hidden:
our calender and all our papers from dance, gymnastics, piano, baseball, etc.
Right now I'm tempted to paint it with that chalkboard paint so it can be a chalkboard/message board too...

Everything is almost complete...
I just need to find the perfect mudroom rug--
with my track history this could take awhile...
I want something funky, bright & the perfect color to hide dirt since it is in a mudroom.
I also need to hang something, possibly hooks, on the wall above the bench.
But for now, I'm super happy.
We did a little more painting... so more photos later.

PAINT COLORS:
Decorators White by Benjamin Moore
Charleston Gray by Sherwin Williams
(i had them add just a tiny more black to get the exact gray I wanted).
